Residencias SIT2 – La Grieta, Cía. Abián Hernándezverified
La Grieta is a contemporary dance project by Cía. Abián Hernández, performed by Andrea Pérez, Emiliana Battista and Abián Hernández. The piece explores feelings of loss, grief, rupture and emptiness and how they affect the body, and also looks at the crack running through twenty-first-century culture. It is presented at the Sala Insular de Teatro in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as part of Residencias SIT.
Conceived and directed by Abián Hernández, La Grieta brings the work to life with three performers and explores feelings of loss, grief, rupture and emptiness, and how they affect the body that carries them. The piece connects with the idea of the soul, with funeral rites and with dances linked to death and to celebrating a new path in the face of loss. The crack is also that of twenty-first-century culture: the abyss of a society living in the instant and in the shop window, avoiding the pause needed for reflection.
This dance piece is presented as Residencias SIT2 at the Sala Insular de Teatro in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It lasts about 40 minutes, and tickets cost 10 euros, sold online. This performance starts on Friday 4 December 2026 at 19:30.
