OTRO MODO Surfcamp Hostel Fuerteventura
OTRO MODO is a German speaking surf school and surf camp in Morro Jable, in the south of Fuerteventura, founded in 2007. It runs courses all year for beginners, improvers, families and children, together with surf guiding, board hire, stand up paddle courses and rental, yoga, Spanish lessons, excursions and its own shop. Accommodation ranges from a hostel to a villa by the surf spot.
The camp was founded in 2007 in Morro Jable and works all year round, choosing each day the beach that best suits the level of the group. The instructors are trained by the International Surfing Association, hold beach lifeguard licences from the Surf Life Saving Association and have at least two years of professional experience; advanced courses are taught only by ISA level 2 certified instructors. The ratio is one instructor for every six students.
Courses include equipment, theory and practice, at least two video coaching sessions, transfer to the surf spot, pick up at the accommodation and insurance, along with a weekly theory session in the Morro Jable office. Children use soft boards, long wetsuits and helmets up to the age of ten, on beaches with small waves and little current; families can choose childcare on the beach or an alternating pattern between parents.
