Marítima Acantilados
Marítima Acantilados runs boat excursions out of Los Gigantes, with its office on Avenida José González Forte in Santiago del Teide and its boats moored in the town's marina. Whale and dolphin watching cruises leave from there, with a swimming stop in the bay of Masca and a return run along the foot of the cliffs, alongside trips into the volcanic caves and deep sea fishing charters.
The Marítima Acantilados office stands on Avenida José González Forte in Los Gigantes, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, and all its boats lie in the marina of the same village. The fleet is deliberately varied: the Nashira Uno is a catamaran built for watching cetaceans, steady in the water and fitted with underwater viewing; the Gladiator U offers more versatile and comfortable outings; the Lady Elsie is a 50 foot sailing yacht that goes out daily and can also be taken as a private charter; the smaller Inia I slips into caves most vessels cannot enter; and the Punta Umbría is given over to sport fishing, by trolling and on the bottom.
The whale and dolphin cruises last from an hour and a half to three hours depending on the boat, pause in the bay of Masca for a swim in its clear water and head back to port along the Los Gigantes cliffs. The cave trip follows the cliff wall in a small group as far as Punta de Teno and its lighthouse, with the chance, though no promise, of meeting cetaceans on the way home. Deep sea fishing runs as four and seven hour cruises with the tackle carried on board, and the company also works as a water taxi, collecting passengers by boat at Masca and bringing them to Los Gigantes. It has signed the quality charter of Turismo de Tenerife, a commitment to respect the animals and limit the impact on the marine environment, and its boats fly the blue boat flag. It also keeps a guide to Canarian cetaceans with entries on the bottlenose dolphin, the short finned pilot whale and the Atlantic spotted dolphin.
