Mirador Roque de La Bonanza
Viewpoint on the eastern coast of El Hierro overlooking the Roque de la Bonanza, a striking volcanic sea stack rising off the Las Playas valley.
Mirador Roque de la Bonanza sits on the eastern flank of El Hierro, where the HI-2 road drops towards the Las Playas valley. From the railing the eye falls on the Roque de la Bonanza, a lone volcanic pinnacle rising straight out of the sea that has become one of the island's signature sights.
The setting blends pine woodland, cliff and open ocean, with views sweeping across the bay and the dark-pebble beach far below. It is a favourite of photographers and of travellers exploring the island's eastern slope, though care is needed on the sections of path affected by rockfall.
