Mirador del Risco de las Peñas
Natural viewpoint over the ancient Betancuria massif, near Vega de Río Palmas and inside the Betancuria Rural Park, on Fuerteventura.

Mirador del Risco de las Peñas is a natural balcony near Vega de Río Palmas, in the municipality of Betancuria and inside the Betancuria Rural Park. From the edge you can read the eroded relief of Fuerteventura's ancient massif, the oldest geological structure on the island, with deep ravines cutting inland.
Access is by car along the FV-30, the mountain road that crosses the park, and the spot is a regular stop on the inland route between Betancuria and Pájara. There is no shade and there are no facilities at the viewpoint, and the wind along the edge can be strong, so bring water and keep hold of hats and cameras. The light is at its best around sunrise and sunset.

Mirador de Izcagua
Mirador de Izcagua stands in the El Pinar area of Puntagorda, in the north-west of La Palma, right beside the Mercadillo del Agricultor farmers' market. The website of the La Palma Biosphere Reserve presents it as a set of floating viewpoints: walkways edged with glass railings that reach out over the ravine and give a sensation of flight. It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
