Mirador de las Playas
A viewpoint perched above the great amphitheatre of Las Playas bay on El Hierro, with sheer views of the cliff and the sea.

The Mirador de las Playas looks out from the edge of the escarpment that closes the bay of Las Playas, on the eastern side of El Hierro, within the municipality of Valverde. From its balcony the view drops over a vast amphitheatre of vertical walls that descend to a shore of dark pebbles, with the open sea beyond and, when the air is clear, the silhouette of the Roque de la Bonanza set against the waves.
The setting combines pine woodland and steep slopes shaped by ancient landslides, in one of the most rugged landscapes of the smallest island in the archipelago. It is a stop on the way between the summits and the coast, very exposed to the wind, from which the scale of the cliff and the serene isolation that marks El Hierro can be appreciated.

Mirador de Izcagua
Mirador de Izcagua stands in the El Pinar area of Puntagorda, in the north-west of La Palma, right beside the Mercadillo del Agricultor farmers' market. The website of the La Palma Biosphere Reserve presents it as a set of floating viewpoints: walkways edged with glass railings that reach out over the ravine and give a sensation of flight. It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
