Mirador de La Peña
Viewpoint designed by César Manrique over the El Golfo valley.
The Mirador de la Peña stands on the cliff that overlooks the Valle de El Golfo, the great volcanic depression in the north of El Hierro, in the municipality of Valverde and about 700 metres above the sea. It was César Manrique who designed the building and gardens in the early 1980s, blending local stone, wood and large windows that frame the landscape from the restaurant dining room, where traditional El Hierro dishes are served. You reach it by car from Valverde and it has its own car park. In 2001 the whole complex was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, a tribute to Manrique's work.
Did you know? César Manrique himself opened the viewpoint on 17 June 1989, one of the works with which he left his mark beyond his native Lanzarote.

Mirador Llano de Las Ventas
Mirador Llano de Las Ventas is an astronomical viewpoint in the municipality of Breña Baja, on La Palma, standing at around 1,320 metres and looking out over the island's eastern coast. It is fitted with a marker post that points to the Pole Star, a planisphere for locating the main circumpolar constellations, and several interpretive panels. It belongs to the island network of sixteen astronomical viewpoints.

It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
