Roque Bentayga is an imposing Natural Monument rising to 1404 metres in the great Tejeda caldera, in the mountainous interior of Gran Canaria. Beyond its geological value, it was a sacred place for the ancient Canarians, who left rock-cut granaries, funerary caves and ritual spaces on its slopes, now a key reference for the island's aboriginal heritage.

An interpretation centre helps visitors understand its history and meaning, and a short trail leads towards the caves and viewpoints. It is a place to walk unhurriedly, take in the volcanic summit landscape and photograph one of the most symbolic sites in the heart of Gran Canaria.
