Museo Roque de los Muchachos
The Roque de los Muchachos Visitor Centre stands at 2,426 metres above sea level in the municipality of Garafía, beside the international astrophysics observatories on the highest point of La Palma. It is laid out as four areas: a welcome room with reception, auditorium, shop and an interactive table on the entrails of the telescopes, plus three exhibition rooms devoted to the sky, to the universe and to the Garafía area.

The exhibition starts from one concrete question: why the Canary Islands host some of the largest telescopes in the world. The first room answers it, the second moves into the cosmos and into the scientific work carried out there, and the third returns to Earth to show the heritage, the traditions and the natural and cultural resources of Garafía.
The centre has an audiovisual room, a shop, vending machines for refreshments and parking for cars, buses and bicycles. The building is adapted to welcome visitors with reduced mobility. Guided tours are offered on request, and educational groups need to book in advance. Because of the altitude, the centre's own website recommends comfortable shoes, a hat, sun cream and sunglasses for the outdoor areas, and a coat in winter.
