Museo LagOmar
A villa-museum carved into a former volcanic quarry, with lava caves, tunnels, secret passages and a lagoon, conceived by César Manrique and Jesús Soto.

Museo LagOmar is one of Lanzarote's most striking properties, set in Nazaret (Teguise) and built inside a former volcanic quarry of natural labyrinths and caves shaped by lava from the ancient volcano rising above it.
The site was originally conceived by César Manrique and designed by the artist Jesús Soto for British developer Sam Benady. In the early 1970s actor Omar Sharif fell in love with the house while filming "The Mysterious Island" and bought it; as the story goes, he soon lost it to Benady over a game of bridge.
In 1989 architects Dominik von Boettinger and Beatriz van Hoff began the final phase, refurbishing the caves with wood and salvage from local shipwrecks and adding cactus, palms and bougainvillea, circular patios, a lake and cascades. Today it houses a museum, a lakeside restaurant and the "La Cueva" bar.
