Casa-Museo César Manrique (Haría)
César Manrique's last house-studio in Haría, kept as he left it, with his work and its palm-tree garden.
House-museum dedicated to the artist César Manrique in the village of Haría, in the north of Lanzarote, run by the César Manrique Foundation. From 1986 the artist built the house by reusing and adapting a ruined farmhouse on an agricultural estate surrounded by a palm grove, and lived there until his death in 1992. It opened to the public as a museum in 2013.
The visit covers the rooms of his private residence with two courtyards, personal belongings, utensils, found objects and craft pieces, as well as the separate studio preserved exactly as the artist left it: pigments, tables with drawings, easels and unfinished paintings. The architecture combines traditional Lanzarote building language with a modern vision, with abundant vegetation indoors and outdoors.
