Pozo de las Calcosas
Natural pools in a small cliff-sheltered cove at El Mocanal, next to a hamlet of stone houses with traditional roofs on El Hierro's north coast.

Pozo de las Calcosas is a small cliff-sheltered bay on the north coast of El Hierro, in the municipality of Valverde. Two natural pools tame the force of the Atlantic swell and allow bathing when the sea permits.
The spot is known for its hamlet of volcanic-stone houses with traditional roofs, once summer homes of local fishermen. You reach it on foot down a cobbled path from the upper car park, where a couple of restaurants sit.
