Playa Montaña Amarilla
Semi-urban pebble cove about 50 metres long at the foot of Montaña Amarilla in San Miguel de Abona, with very clear water and regular snorkelling and diving use.
Playa de Montaña Amarilla is a semi-urban pebble cove at the foot of the mountain of the same name, in San Miguel de Abona next to Costa del Silencio. It measures roughly 50 metres long by 8 metres wide, so it is a small beach. Montaña Amarilla itself is a designated Natural Monument, and the sea has carved striking shapes into its yellow rock, which is what gives the spot its character. The water stays very clear and the area is a regular snorkelling and diving site, with several clubs running dives here.
Access is on foot from Ten-Bel and the neighbouring urbanisations; there is also an interurban bus and a car park with fewer than 50 spaces. There are no services at all on the beach, so it is worth bringing water and your own shade. The ground is pebble rather than fine sand, which makes bathing shoes useful. Next to the cove one area has been laid out as a solarium, with steps leading straight down into the sea. Given the size of the beach, space runs short as soon as a few groups have settled in.
