Playa del Risco (Playa Bajo el Risco)
A wild beach of sand and pebbles at the foot of the Risco de Famara cliff, facing the Chinijo archipelago and the old salt pans.

Playa del Risco, also known as Playa del Bajo el Risco, lies in the north of Lanzarote, at the foot of the towering Risco de Famara and below the Mirador del Río, in the municipality of Haría. It is a rugged, solitary beach of golden sand mixed with pebbles, undeveloped and almost wild in feel. Before it opens the El Río strait and the island of La Graciosa, with the rest of the Chinijo archipelago beyond.
Beside the shore lie the Salinas del Río, old salt pans regarded as among the oldest in the archipelago, which add historical interest to the site. Access is on foot along a trail that descends from the top of the cliff, a demanding drop best tackled with proper footwear, water and care. That effort is rewarded with an untouched natural setting and sweeping views over the sea and the islands.
