Playa de Tauro, in the municipality of Mogán, is a wide beach of fine golden sand and turquoise water. Its calm atmosphere and the fact that it stays uncrowded even in season have made it a small hidden gem in the south-west of Gran Canaria, away from the bustle of better-known beaches.
It is an ideal spot to settle down without any fuss and enjoy a swim, and its sunsets bring a special light. Bear in mind that services are limited, with just a simple café, so it is worth coming prepared for a relaxed day.

Playa de Puntalarga is a small bay on the coastline of Fuencaliente de La Palma, about a hundred metres long and twenty metres wide, with a mix of sand and callao pebbles. Small rocky outcrops shelter it from the sea and the swell stays moderate. A natural rock pool lies right beside the beach, and the whole corner is ringed by fishermen's huts, with fishermen often at work there.
