Playa de Sardina del Norte
Calm, clear-water cove in the north of Gáldar, well regarded for diving.
Sardina del Norte is a sheltered cove at the northwest tip of Gáldar, with golden sand and clear, calm water. Beside the beach there is a small fishing port and the lighthouse area, valued for scuba diving and snorkelling thanks to the good visibility of its seabeds. It is a place with a local feel and a few fish restaurants. Its orientation shields it from the northern swell, which makes it pleasant for bathing much of the year.
Did you know? In the 19th century this harbour was the third-busiest in the whole archipelago, after Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas, and one of the island's main gateways for shipping goods before the Port of Las Palmas was built.
