Playa de Melenara
Wide family beach of dark sand in Telde, lined with seafood restaurants.

Melenara is one of the largest beaches in Telde and a favourite of local families. It has dark sand, generally calm water and a long promenade with many restaurants specialising in fresh fish and seafood. It offers services such as showers and parking, and usually has a lifeguard in high season. It is a good option for a comfortable, local-feeling beach day rather than for seeking solitude.
Did you know? On a rock just off the shore stands the Neptuno del Puntón, a bronze statue over four metres tall by Telde-born sculptor Luis Arencibia, unveiled in 2001; depending on the tide it seems to float or to rest upon the rock.
