Playa de Alcalá

sellBeachesstorefrontIslas24rainy32°C

A quiet beach in the fishing village of Alcalá, in Guía de Isora, with dark sand, natural pools and a seafront promenade beside the harbour.

Islas24

Playa de Alcalá lies in the centre of Alcalá, an old fishing village on the south-west coast of Tenerife, in the municipality of Guía de Isora. It is a sheltered cove of volcanic sand and pebbles, protected from the swell, complemented by rock pools and natural sea pools carved into the stone where bathing is usually calm.

Around it runs a seafront promenade with the fishing harbour, the village square and terraces facing the sea, in an area with a warm, dry climate for most of the year. It is a spot with a local feel, less crowded than the large southern beaches, ideal for a peaceful swim, for watching the sun set over La Gomera and for an evening stroll.

Piscina Natural Alcalá

Also known as the Charco de La Jaquita, the natural pools of Alcalá are a cluster of volcanic rock basins on the south western coast of Guía de Isora. The sea has carved several bowls of clear water out of the black lava, now fitted with steps, showers and terraces to rest on. You reach them along the seafront walkway from Playa de Alcalá. At high tide with a strong swell, extra care is needed.
