Spanish Rock Swings is the Perinké Big Band show that reworks some of the great anthems of Spanish rock in a jazz and swing idiom. The idea goes back to 2005, when Paul Anka released Rock Swings and surprised listeners by giving international rock hits elegant jazz arrangements. The Canarian band added that repertoire to its programme and later decided to go further and build a show of its own around rock sung in Spanish. Songs by Fito, Bunbury, Robe Iniesta and Rosendo, among others, take on a new dimension through the arrangements of Claudio Marrero, a composer from Gran Canaria based in Barcelona who specialises in big band writing and keeps the drive of the originals while adding colour, rhythm and fresh detail.
Fronting the project is Litus, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and one of the best known showmen on the Spanish music scene, whose voice bridges two worlds that turn out to speak to each other easily on stage. The concert belongs to the El Rincón del Jazz series and takes place on Saturday 19 December 2026 at 20:30 in the Sala Jerónimo Saavedra of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, at the far end of Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It runs 75 minutes without an interval and the doors open forty five minutes beforehand. Admission costs 20 euros.
