Canarias Calling Gran Canaria holds its fourth edition at Sala Canarias en Vivo in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a meeting point for punk, noise and cultural resistance organised with Oxfanzine. Canarias Calling Gran Canaria reaches its fourth edition as a meeting point for punk, noise and cultural resistance, from the islands to Europe and back. It is organised by Canarias Calling Gran Canaria and Oxfanzine and brings together underground scenes from the Canaries, Berlin, St. Pauli, Essen, Sweden and the United Kingdom under one idea: Existimos porque resistimos, we exist because we resist. It is a day of music, DIY attitude and alternative community, with a bill that mixes veteran bands and new generations.
Sham 69 head the night, on the British punk scene since 1975, now fronted by Tim V and presenting their new album The Subtle Act of Violence. With them are Planlos X, carrying the punk of 1980s East Berlin; Las Ratas from Tenerife; the rockabilly-punk of Gran Canaria's Bifidos; the power-punk of Death By Horse from Malmö; Gran Canaria newcomers Kermes; and Sweden's Blisterhead, playing punk rock and rock'n'roll since 1999.
