Mirafondos Centro de Buceo
Mirafondos is a dive centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, specialising in technical diving, which runs guided day and night dives from the shore or by boat, as well as try dives and training at every level. It rents and sells equipment and has a repair workshop. Its dive sites around the island include wrecks in the city itself, Tufia, El Cabrón and Sardina de Gáldar.
Mirafondos, on Calle Galileo in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, runs daily outings with day and night dives from the shore or by boat, always guided and always heading for wherever the sea is best that day. For a first experience it suggests a try dive, and its training covers every level of recreational and technical diving. The technical side is led by Acisclo Lorenzo, known as Kiko, a TDI-SDI instructor trainer and trimix and rebreather instructor, and the centre has an air filling station certified as BAUER PureAir Gold.
The dives cover very different underwater sites around Gran Canaria: wrecks in the city itself, volcanic tunnels beside underwater cliffs, the shoals of grunts at Tufia, the abundant life of El Cabrón and, in summer, the butterfly rays and angel sharks carpeting the seabed at Sardina de Gáldar. The water ranges from about 18 degrees in winter to 22 for the rest of the year. The centre also rents full equipment, sells gear, repairs BCDs, regulators and dive computers as an official service centre for several brands, and organises a diving trip to an international destination every year.
