Margullar Diving
Margullar Diving is an SSI dive centre on Calle Almirante Díaz del Río in Playa de Arinaga, in the municipality of Agüimes on the eastern coast of Gran Canaria. It works the nearby shoreline with guided shore dives at Risco Verde and El Cabrón, and runs boat dives to several wrecks. Its training runs from the try dive, which calls for no previous experience, all the way to the professional courses.
The centre occupies a 140 square metre facility with reception, classroom, changing rooms, equipment store and repair workshop, and it has a shallow indoor pool where skills are practised before anyone enters the sea. Kit is checked regularly and the staff work in several languages. The site itself is published in Spanish, English and French.
The try dive is open from the age of ten, asks for no experience or certification, and combines theory, a pool session and a guided dive in the protected zone of Risco Verde, with one instructor per person and full equipment included. Courses range from Scuba Diver to Open Water Diver, which is completed in three days and requires swimming ability and a declaration of fitness. The wrecks reached by boat call for an advanced certification.
