Leagues Ahead Diving
Leagues Ahead Diving is a PADI 5 Star dive centre in Playa del Inglés, on Avenida de Moya, within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. It offers try dives for people with no previous experience, recreational PADI courses, dives for certified divers, snorkelling trips and a divemaster internship. Everything is run in small groups, with qualified instructors and rental equipment on site.
The try dive takes people with no previous experience down to twelve metres. The PADI Open Water Diver course runs over three days and qualifies the holder to dive independently to eighteen metres. Teaching happens in small, personal groups, and dives for certified divers are organised at a maximum ratio of four people per guide. Rental equipment comes from Cressi.
Among the regular sites are Tufia, with swim-throughs, easy access and sightings of angel sharks, rays and seahorses, and El Cabrón, one of only three marine reserves in the Canary Islands, closed to commercial fishing, home to around four hundred species and ten separate routes including Arco Chico, Los Roncadores and Punta de la Sal. The water reaches twenty-five degrees in summer. The centre collects participants from accommodation across the south of Gran Canaria.
