Catlanza S.L. Catamarán Sailing
Catlanza is a family run catamaran sailing company based in the marina at Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, which first put to sea in 1995. Its shared trips head for the Papagayo beaches at the southern end of the island and mix swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding with stretches under sail, while private charters can be arranged for groups. Lunch is cooked on board and the guides work in several languages.
Catlanza sails out of Puerto Calero on the south coast of Lanzarote, and its story starts in 1995, when Wes and Roisin got the venture going; the Papagayo excursion was designed by that first crew, and the firm is now run by the second generation of the family. The crew brings together captains, sailors, cooks and guides who look after guests in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Dutch. The company also makes a point of its environmentally careful practices around the island.
The shared trip heads for the Papagayo beaches and alternates swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding with stretches under sail, where anyone who fancies it can hoist a sail or take the helm; there is a family version open to all ages and an adults only version. A hot lunch is cooked on board, with vegetarian and vegan options and dishes cooked without gluten, and there are nets at the bow for lying in the sun and a sheltered cockpit for anyone looking for shade. The company operates two catamarans, takes wheelchairs on deck on request, carries life jackets for children and picks passengers up in several resort areas, though guests can also make their own way to the marina. The crew keep an eye out for the dolphins, pilot whales and flying fish that turn up along the way.
