Mirador del Morro de Agando

A viewpoint in the heart of La Gomera facing the imposing Roque de Agando, beside Garajonay National Park.

Islas24

The Morro de Agando viewpoint lies in the centre of the island, beside the road that crosses Garajonay National Park. From here you look out on the imposing Roque de Agando, a colossal 1,246-metre volcanic formation that has become a symbol of La Gomera.

The spot is surrounded by three protected natural areas: Garajonay National Park, the Los Roques Natural Monument and the Benchijigua Integral Nature Reserve. It is reached by a short path from the car park and is the start of several hiking routes.

Did you know? The Roque de Agando is actually an old plug of magma that solidified inside a volcano; erosion carried away the softer surrounding material and left this rock needle, more than four million years old, standing exposed.

Mirador de los Roques

A viewpoint on the GM-2 road, on the stretch that crosses the surroundings of Garajonay National Park, facing the group of rock towers formed by Agando, Ojila, La Zarcita and Carmona. These are solidified volcanic conduits left standing once erosion carried away the softer material around them, and from here they line up one behind the other. The stop is a roadside one and takes only a few minutes. Trade wind cloud can cover the rocks within minutes, so an early view is usually the clearest.
