Parroquia de San Sebastián de Agüimes
18th-century neoclassical church regarded as one of Gran Canaria's architectural jewels, at the heart of the historic centre of Agüimes.
The Parish of San Sebastián presides over the tree-lined Plaza del Rosario, the epicentre of Agüimes' old town. Built mainly in the 18th century, it blends Baroque and Neoclassical elements and is considered by many to be one of the most important religious works on the island.
Its surroundings are a genuine open-air museum, with more than a hundred sculptures scattered along cobbled streets and traditional Canarian houses. The ensemble forms the gateway to the Barranco de Guayadeque valley.
