Monumento Natural Volcanes de Teneguía
Natural monument at the southern tip of Fuencaliente de La Palma, formed by the cone and lava flows of the 1971 Teneguía eruption.

The Monumento Natural Volcanes de Teneguía covers the southern tip of La Palma, in the municipality of Fuencaliente. It was created by the eruption of 1971, which left one of the youngest land volcanic formations in the Canary Islands, and it is officially protected as a natural monument. Vineyards worked on the volcanic gravel known as picón are still part of the picture around it.
The path around the crater is of moderate difficulty and runs over stony, sharp lava, so sturdy hiking shoes and water are advisable; there is no shade along the route. In summer both heat and wind are strong around midday, and walking early or late in the afternoon is easier going.
