The museum occupied a 19th-century estate in the village of Tiagua, in the municipality of Teguise, one of the oldest and largest farming estates on Lanzarote. It showed rural Lanzarote life before mechanisation: the granaries, the wine press and the stables, a tower windmill and a molina for grinding gofio, the ethnographic rooms, the cactus garden and the bodega, where vine growing on volcanic enarenado soil was explained. In English it was also known as El Patio Agricultural Museum.
We have taken the link to its website off this page, because it no longer works. Be careful if you arrive from a guidebook or a travel blog: some still show it with opening hours and ticket prices, without a date. If you are interested in Lanzarote's rural culture, the Casa Museo del Campesino in Mozaga, a few kilometres away, covers the same theme and opens every day.
