Mundo Aborigen
Open-air recreation of a Canary Island settlement from before the conquest, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, overlooking the Barranco de Fataga. More than a hundred life-size figures spread scenes of daily life across the site: the home, grain, livestock, healing, justice and burial rites. A small archaeological room rounds off the route and helps place what stands outside. Since the site is open ground with little shade, water, a hat and sun protection are worth packing.

Mundo Aborigen recreates, in the open air, a Canary Island settlement from before the Castilian conquest, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, beside the road that climbs from the south coast towards Fataga. The site looks out over the Barranco de Fataga, so the route alternates built scenes with wide views across the valley and its palm groves. More than a hundred life-size figures spread everyday situations across the ground: the house, grain, livestock, the treatment of wounds, the gathering that dispensed justice and the burial rites.
A small archaeological room completes the built part and helps set what you have seen outside within the island's history. The route is easy, though it runs over dirt tracks with gentle slopes, so closed shoes make for a more comfortable walk. Because the site is open ground with little shade, midday in summer turns harsh: carry water, a hat and sun protection, and save the visit for the cooler hours. This is a place to take slowly, reading each scene, and it works well with children who already have an appetite for history.
