Sendero Siete Canadas
Classic signposted trail crossing the floor of the Teide caldera, from El Portillo, among pines, brooms and vast lava flows.
The Siete Cañadas Trail is one of the most emblematic itineraries in Tenerife's Teide National Park. It runs along the floor of the great Las Cañadas caldera, following the foot of the ancient volcanic amphitheatre between El Portillo and the Parador area, with the Teide and the caldera's own rock walls commanding the horizon.
The broad, well-marked path crosses an almost lunar high-mountain landscape: sandy plains, lava flows, Teide broom and Canary pine woodland at lower elevations. As it unfolds at altitude and under strong sunlight, it is advisable to carry water, sun protection and suitable footwear; parts of these itineraries run through protected zones of the park, so checking the current regulations before setting out is recommended.
