Sendero Circular Las Raíces
The Sendero Circular Las Raíces appears in the trail network of El Rosario council under the reference PR-TF 25.1, part of the waymarked network of Tenerife. It runs through the surroundings of the Área Recreativa de Las Raíces, on the Las Lagunetas hillside, a gathering point for open air recreation among the pine woodland typical of the higher ground of the island.

Las Raíces is a Canary pine forest reached by a turning off the La Esperanza road that climbs towards the Teide, in the north east of Tenerife. The Canary pine is a conifer endemic to the archipelago, unusually resistant to fire and of high landscape and ecological value. The recreation area sits on the Las Lagunetas hillside and has facilities designed for outdoor leisure.
El Rosario council lists this circular route in its trail network alongside the GR-131 Anaga-Chasna, the PR-TF 25 Las Raíces to Acentejo and several local paths in the area. The surroundings hold a dense web of tracks, which makes it possible to combine walks of different lengths. The nearby village of La Esperanza gathers the basic services for those arriving to walk.

Plenty of people ride the Teide cable car believing it takes them to the summit. It does not. The upper station sits at 3,555 metres and Pico del Teide at 3,715, and the trail between them needs a permit requested in advance. Free, but limited, and easy to miss.
