Monte Pavón sendero
Walking country in the high north of Gran Canaria, around the Monte Pavón recreation area, which the island council places at 1,200 metres above sea level. The S 01 trail runs through here, linking Cruz de Tejeda with Pinos de Gáldar and Saucillo over thirteen kilometres, and shorter stretches branch off from the area through replanted pine woods and high pastureland.

Monte Pavón spreads across the summits of northern Gran Canaria, between the Doramas Rural Park and the Cumbres protected landscape. The island council describes its recreation area at 1,200 metres, surrounded by young replanted pine woods alternating with open grazing land, and fitted with information panels covering the walking options nearby.
The longest waymarked route is the S 01 trail, thirteen kilometres linking Cruz de Tejeda with Pinos de Gáldar and Saucillo; anyone who does not want the whole thing can walk a single section. These heights hold some of the best pastureland on the island, the basis of the local cheesemaking tradition, and their unbroken green in the damp months has earned them more than one comparison with northern Atlantic landscapes.
