A 2,715 m summit in Teide National Park, the third-highest in the Canaries, with a classic circular route from the Parador in La Orotava. A demanding high-mountain climb.

Islas24

Montaña Guajara rises to 2,715 metres inside Teide National Park and is the third-highest peak in the Canaries, a privileged balcony over the great caldera of Las Cañadas. On clear days its summit takes in the cone of Teide, the sea of clouds and much of the island, a reward that draws hikers from around the world.

The classic circular route sets off from near the Parador and climbs through strikingly beautiful volcanic scenery until it reaches the top. It is a demanding high-mountain outing, with considerable ascent and rocky sections, so it is wise to go well equipped, with water, sun protection and proper mountain footwear. The altitude and changeable weather mean it pays to plan the outing and check conditions before setting off.
