Barranco del Infierno
A guided trail through a special nature reserve that starts above Adeje's old town. Around 6.5 kilometres there and back, some three and a half hours, with a compulsory helmet, a limit of 300 visitors a day and booking required in advance.

The Barranco del Infierno is a special nature reserve that begins above Adeje's old town and works up into the mountain along the streambed. The trail runs about 6.5 kilometres there and back and takes around three and a half hours, between rock walls, riverside vegetation and open stretches with views out to sea. It ends near a waterfall fed by one of the island's few permanent watercourses, which is an unusual thing to find in the south of Tenerife.
Access is regulated so as not to disturb the environment: only 300 people are allowed in per day, so the booking has to be made in advance on the official website and turning up at the gate is not enough. At the meeting point you are handed a helmet, which must be worn for the whole route. Proper walking shoes are advisable; beach sandals are not allowed.
The timetable changes with the season. From 1 June to 15 September entry is between 8:00 and 10:30 and the park closes at 13:30; from 16 September to 31 May entry is between 8:30 and 11:30 and closing is at 14:30. Conditions are reviewed each season, so the safest thing is to confirm them on the official website before booking. The starting point is in the old town of Adeje, on the same street as the Casa Fuerte and about three hundred metres from it.
