San Telmo is one of the bathing spots in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. The official listing calls it the most traditional and picturesque in the town, and places its appeal in the small natural pools left among the rocks as the tide goes out. The surface is black sand and picón, and the cove measures roughly twenty metres in length and width.

Access is on foot and is graded as easy, with adapted access for people with disabilities. The services listed include showers, bins, a cleaning service, a telephone and bars. There is no car park at the beach itself, although the interurban bus reaches it. The beach holds the Blue Flag award, which according to the same listing guarantees the condition of the water and of the services.
