Playa de Ojos de Garza
A semi-urban beach in the municipality of Telde, on the eastern coast of Gran Canaria, with some 450 metres of fine golden sand mixed with pebbles and a moderate swell. Houses of the old fishing quarter come almost down to the water and a short seafront promenade runs along it. This is the closest beach to Gran Canaria airport, so aircraft pass low over the bay on their way in and out.
Ojos de Garza sits in an east-facing bay on the stretch of Telde coastline between the airport and the headland of Tufia. The town council describes it as a semi-urban beach of fine golden sand mixed with stones, 450 metres long and around 30 metres wide on average. The swell stays moderate for much of the year, although the trade winds build the sea up in the summer months. Housing reaches right down to the shore and keeps the feel of the fishing village it once was.
Access is from the GC-1 motorway, taking the GC-15 exit signposted towards the beach; parking beside the sand is very limited. Several Global bus lines stop in the neighbourhood, a short walk from the air terminal. A walking route of about eight kilometres there and back heads south to Playa de Tufia and its archaeological site, which is protected as a Site of Scientific Interest. The runway is close enough that passing aircraft are part of the experience.

Small rocky outcrops shelter it from the sea and the swell stays moderate. A natural rock pool lies right beside the beach, and the whole corner is ringed by fishermen's huts, with fishermen often at work there.
