Near Hermigua, in the northeast of La Gomera, Playa de La Caleta combines a cove of dark sand and pebbles with a natural pool that holds back the sea, much loved by locals. On the open sea the swell can be strong, but the pool offers a more sheltered swim in a green, spectacular setting. It has a picnic area and is a great plan for a day away from the crowds, in one of the prettiest scenes of northern La Gomera.

Playa de Puntalarga
Playa de Puntalarga is a small bay on the coastline of Fuencaliente de La Palma, about a hundred metres long and twenty metres wide, with a mix of sand and callao pebbles. Small rocky outcrops shelter it from the sea and the swell stays moderate. A natural rock pool lies right beside the beach, and the whole corner is ringed by fishermen's huts, with fishermen often at work there.
