Playa de Abama
A small cove of golden sand and calm waters in Guía de Isora, ideal for family bathing and for watching the sunset facing La Gomera.

Playa de Abama
Playa de Abama is a small cove of golden sand in the municipality of Guía de Isora, on the southwest side of Tenerife. Sheltered at the foot of a cliff crowned with banana plantations and shell-shaped, it is one of the most secluded and photogenic beaches on the Isora coast. Its westward orientation makes it a privileged viewpoint for sunsets, with the silhouette of the island of La Gomera drawn on the horizon.
It is a semi-urban beach about 100 metres long, next to The Ritz-Carlton Abama hotel complex. Despite being integrated into that setting, the beach has public access. The sand, fine and golden in tone, comes largely from improvement works in the area, and combines with turquoise water that is usually calm.
Bathing and calm waters
The natural shelter of the cove protects the beach from the swell, so its waters are usually calm with a gradual entry. It is a comfortable spot for relaxed bathing and is especially suitable for families, as well as for snorkelling near the rocky areas. As on any Atlantic coast, you should observe the sea conditions and the flag of the day before bathing.
Services
Dining: a beach bar and bar service at beach level.
Sunbeds and parasols: available for rent in season.
Showers and toilets: installed on the beach.
Parking: a parking area near the access.
Lifeguards: surveillance service in high season.
How to get there
Access is from the TF-1 motorway, taking the exit towards Guía de Isora and linking with the TF-465 road towards the coast. From the car park you descend to the cove by a staircase, so comfortable footwear is advisable. There is a funicular within the hotel grounds reserved for Ritz-Carlton Abama guests.
