Mundo del Plátano is a banana museum and working plantation at Hacienda La Rekompensa, in the Trasmontaña area of Arucas (Gran Canaria). The visit takes in three exhibition rooms on the history and cultivation of the banana, from its origins in Papua New Guinea and its journey through Hindu, Roman, Arab and European cultures to becoming one of the most consumed fruits in the world.
The tour then continues through the plantation itself, set in the rural landscape of Trasmontaña. The experience holds a TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice 2025 award and visits can be booked online.
