Transvulcania Bike 2026: stage 2, Fuencalienteverified

Sport

The second stage of the Transvulcania Bike 2026 starts on Friday 13 November at 10:00 from Los Canarios, in Fuencaliente, and finishes in the same place. The organisers call it the fastest and most varied of the four: it climbs the Pista del Cabrito to the Mirador del Jable, passes the Refugio del Pilar and returns south along the Vereda de las Cabras. There is a long 68 km course and a short 48 km one.

The Fuencaliente stage is the second of the four stages of the Transvulcania Bike 2026, held on La Palma from 12 to 15 November, and the organisers describe it as the fastest and most diverse, as it crosses from the volcanic south, with its jable sand and pine forest, to the laurel forest in the centre of the island. From Fuencaliente it heads for the Pino de la Virgen and begins a climb of almost 20 km along the Pista del Cabrito to the Mirador del Jable; it continues 1.8 km on tarmac to the Refugio del Pilar, takes the Pista de La Hilera and descends the PR LP1, an old cobbled path through laurel forest, to the Pista de Pared Vieja. It then drops back down the Pista del Cabrito to the Vereda de las Cabras, a narrow 4.5 km volcanic trail, and a section of the GR-131 brings it back to Fuencaliente.

The long course covers 68 km with 1,900 m of climbing and aid stations at Llano del Jable and Pared Vieja; the short one 48 km and 1,100 m, with an aid station at Llano del Jable. Start and finish are in Los Canarios. Programme for Friday 13 November 2026: bib collection from 08:00 to 09:00, only for riders who could not collect it on Thursday; technical service from 09:00 to 09:30; start pens form at 09:40 and the start is at 10:00. The first rider on the short course is expected at around 11:00 and on the long course at around 13:00; the post-race meal is at 13:00, the prize-giving at 15:00 and the finish closes at 17:00.
