Ópera de Tenerife presents the chamber opera Powder Her Face, by Thomas Adès, at the Teatro Leal. It is a contemporary opera centred on the sexual life and the divorce of Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, in the sixties. In an explicit and satirical tone, it recounts her social fall from luxury to ruin and solitude, marked by her affairs and by a famous piece of gossip.

The duchess lives in a cage of luxury, desire and scandal, and everyone takes part in her fall: lovers, employees, the press, judges, a society that first consumes her and then condemns her. She is spoken about a great deal and almost never spoken with, while her private life is devoured by the public gaze. Nicola Beller Carbone directs the staging, with Sally Matthews as the duchess and Ensemble LUX:NM. This first performance begins at 19:00, and access is only allowed to those over five years old.
