The Isla Calavera Zombie Walk holds its sixth edition in the historic centre of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the eve of All Saints' Day. It is organised by the Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera, with main sponsorship from La Laguna City Council through its Culture department. It is a big celebration of costumes, music and make-up for residents, visitors and families, aimed at all ages. Actor and comedian Aarón Gómez is master of ceremonies again, and the Banda de Música de Tejina takes part. No acting experience or professional costume is needed. The Isla Calavera fantasy film festival itself follows with its tenth edition, from 6 to 15 November.
From 17:00, Plaza del Adelantado hosts free make-up tents, a food area and activities, so everyone can arrive in costume or turn into a zombie on the spot. At 20:00 the parade sets off for Plaza de la Concepción along calle Obispo Rey Redondo and returns along calle Herradores. At the end of the route, prizes are awarded on the Plaza del Adelantado stage in three categories: Mejor Zombie (best make-up), Mejor Caminante (best performance) and Mejor Grupo (best group). The night closes with a DJ set by NAGOBA, mixing electronic music with soundtracks and references to fantasy cinema.
