3rd Mi barraquito o tu zaperoco, La Orotava's barraquito and zaperoco coffee routeverified
From 5 to 31 October 2026, around twenty cafés in La Orotava take part in the third «Mi barraquito o tu zaperoco», the route and contest to find the town's best barraquito and zaperoco. Customers vote through the QR codes in each café and enter a draw for a night for two at the Parador in Teide National Park.
From 5 to 31 October 2026, La Orotava holds the third «Mi barraquito o tu zaperoco», a route and contest in which around twenty cafés in the municipality present their own versions of the barraquito and the zaperoco, two drinks closely tied to Canarian coffee culture that combine coffee, liqueur, condensed milk and other ingredients. The previous edition drew more than 1,800 votes from residents and visitors.
The public chooses the best entries: voting is digital, through a geolocated web app reached via the QR codes in each café, which also lists the participating venues and the details of each creation. Voters enter a draw for a night for two at the Parador in Teide National Park, breakfast included. The rules and the list of cafés are published on the official channels of La Orotava Town Council.
