As part of the 4th International Congress of the Bajada de la Virgen, Santa Cruz de La Palma hosts the Danzas Romeras on Saturday 7 November 2026: individual performances in the Plaza de España at 12:00, then a street parade along Pérez de Brito and O'Daly at 13:00. Around ten groups from across the island will perform the old shepherd dances, one of the oldest expressions of La Palma's folk music.

On Saturday 7 November 2026 Santa Cruz de La Palma hosts another edition of the Danzas Romeras, a festival and street parade of the shepherd dances held as part of the 4th International Congress of the Bajada de la Virgen. The event became part of the Bajada's welcoming protocol in 2025 and brings together groups, performers and associations keeping the old shepherd dances alive, with rhythms rooted in the sirinoque, the tajaraste and the romances. Individual performances start at 12:00 in the Plaza de España, and at 13:00 the joint parade sets off along Calle Pérez de Brito, starting at the Plazoleta de Vandale, and Calle O'Daly.

Taking part are the Colectivo Etnográfico Echentive (Fuencaliente), the Agrupación Folclórica Alfaguara (Breña Baja), Coros y Danzas Nambroque (Santa Cruz de La Palma), the Grupo de Castañuelas de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, the Agrupación de Castañuelas de Breña Alta, Pitos y Flautas de la Villa de San Andrés, Pastorcitos y Pastorcitas de Villa de Mazo, Amigos del Baile de Pastor de Barlovento, the Grupo de Flautas de Pastor de La Palma, the Grupo de Bucios Palmeros and several hiking associations. The event takes place in the street, and the announcement mentions no ticket or registration.
