The workshop explains what cholesterol and high blood pressure are: two cardiovascular risk factors that often show no visible symptoms and therefore tend to go unnoticed until they cause serious complications. It looks at their main causes, namely diet, a sedentary lifestyle, heredity and lifestyle habits, and gives practical guidance such as checking the figures regularly, eating a balanced diet and staying physically active.
The aim is to raise awareness of how early detection and medical follow-up help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The session is given by Faustino Afonso, a family and primary care doctor, as a training activity of the Health and Quality of Life Department of Adeje Town Council. It is free and open to the public, with registration required, and takes place at the CDTCA on Thursday 29 October 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30.
