Sendero Cuevas Negras - Los Silos
The PR-TF 53 drops from Erjos down to Los Silos through the Teno Rural Park: 5.7 kilometres, around three hours, intermediate difficulty. It starts close to 1,000 metres and ends at 105, so it is more than nine hundred metres of almost continuous descent along the old royal road, through the laurel forest of Monte del Agua and the Cuevas Negras ravine. No permit is required to walk it.
PR-TF 53 links the hamlet of Erjos with the town of Los Silos over 5.7 kilometres of linear trail, about three hours of walking at intermediate difficulty. The high point is close to 1,000 metres and the low point is 105, which means over nine hundred metres of descent against barely fifty of climb; the effort lands almost entirely on your knees. The route follows the old royal road that once joined Los Silos with Santiago del Teide, running beside the ravine inside the Teno Rural Park. Walking it needs no authorisation, and the access starts at Calle Las Cruces after crossing the TF-82 road.
The upper section enters the laurel forest of Monte del Agua, with laurels, tree heath and fayas and a damp, shaded atmosphere that keeps the path dim even at midday; further down the land opens into traditional crops and scrub. Around the three kilometre mark you reach the hamlet of Cuevas Negras, with its restored Canarian rural architecture, and shortly before the end two wooden bridges surrounded by running water lead to the washhouses of Calle Susana and the church square of Los Silos. Blackbirds and Canary kestrels are common overhead. Check the forecast, because mist and wet ground are normal here.

It is one of the areas where the endemic pigeons of the laurel woodland can be seen. The route is linear, so the way back to the starting point has to be sorted out.
