Circular route through the El Cedro forest, the laurel-forest heart of Garajonay National Park, alongside a clear stream.
The El Cedro trail plunges into one of La Gomera's most valuable laurel forests, inside Garajonay National Park, a World Heritage site. Among centuries-old Canary cedars, ferns and tree heath, the setting is damp, shaded and almost fairy-tale.
The roughly seven-kilometre, moderately demanding route follows sections of a clear stream that gives the forest an intense green. Along the way stand the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes and, depending on the variant chosen, views of the great El Cedro waterfall. The path is well marked and easy to follow.
