Rambla de Castro
A 45-hectare Protected Landscape on the coast of Los Realejos, Tenerife, crossed by a walking path past Canary palm groves, dragon trees and historic buildings.

Rambla de Castro is a Protected Landscape of 45 hectares in the municipality of Los Realejos, on the north coast of Tenerife. A coastal path, well used by walkers, runs through the area and brings you close to its vegetation: Canary palm groves, tabaibal-cardonal scrub and dragon trees, all of them threatened species. Among the wildlife, the Cory's shearwater stands out. The route also links several built landmarks: the ermita de San Pedro on a small rise, the Hacienda de Castro, the most important building on this stretch of coast and dated to the sixteenth century, the Fortín de San Fernando and the old La Gordejuela water lift.
Access is from the TF-5 motorway at kilometre 41.2, turning off at the Mirador de San Pedro, where there is a car park. A track descends from the viewpoint and the interior of the protected landscape is covered on foot only, so closed shoes, water and sun protection are sensible, as much of the route runs in the open above the sea.
