Playa de Gran Tarajal
Fuerteventura's main urban beach, some 800 metres of black sand at Gran Tarajal (Tuineje), with a Blue Flag, a promenade of local terraces and full facilities.

Playa de Gran Tarajal is the main urban beach on Fuerteventura, lying in the town of the same name in the municipality of Tuineje, in the centre-south of the island. It is around 800 metres long and made up of black sand, running directly in front of the town. Behind it a seafront promenade lined with local terraces ends at the marina. The beach holds a Blue Flag and the water is usually calm; in practice it works as the town's own beach rather than as the frontage of a holiday resort.
The sea here is normally calm, although wind is common in the area. The beach has parking, restaurants, showers, toilets and adapted access, and public transport reaches it in summer. The town also hosts several annual events: the International Clown Festival and the International Big Game Fishing Championship in September, the historical re-enactments of the battles in October, and the Arena Negra music festival in November. On those dates the promenade is considerably busier than usual.
