Charcos Azules
The point lies on the GC-200 road, in the municipality of Mogán, at the outcrop known as Los Azulejos de Veneguera. These are not bathing pools but rock faces stained green, blue, ochre, yellow and reddish by hydrothermal alteration on the south-western rim of the Tejeda palaeocaldera. The Spanish geological survey catalogues the site as a place of geological interest, with outcrops between kilometres 41 and 50.

The marked point is on the GC-200 road, within the municipality of Mogán, at the outcrop known locally as Los Azulejos de Veneguera. It is worth saying so at the outset, because the name can mislead: these are not pools or bathing spots, but the coloured rock faces that the road skirts between Veneguera and La Aldea.
The colour comes from hydrothermal alteration on the south-western rim of the Tejeda palaeocaldera. Hot fluids and successive eruptions changed the chemical composition of a succession of ignimbrites and pyroclastic and epiclastic deposits, leaving green, bluish, ochre, yellow and reddish tones exposed. That series forms the Azulejos Member of the Montaña de los Hornos Formation and is dated to around thirteen million years ago. The Spanish geological and mining institute records it as a site of geological interest, with outcrops between kilometres 41 and 50 of the GC-200. The Fuente de Veneguera and the Mirador de Veneguera lie close by.
